Due to impending Maternity, we’re looking to recruit an Interim Tax professional to assist with the provision of tax services to all relevent parts of the club – primarily encompassing corporate tax and VAT.
This will be a remote role with flexibility around office time once/if that becomes an option within the contract period – expected to be 10 to 12 months.
There is the option to work either 5 or 4 days per week
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
ACA/ACCA or CTA qualified/part qualified or other qualification with experience in practice within a tax role.
Highly organised individual.
Work experience and previous exposure to both Tax & financial accounting/reporting.
Must possess knowledge and experience of UK/EU VAT law and compliance processes
Ideally, but not compulsory, a basic knowledge of book to UK tax adjustments and capital allowances, etc.
Strong communicator given likely to be liaising with both US and UK tax professionals.
Strong work ethic and flexibility to work as and when required in peak periods, to ensure deadlines are met.
High levels of attention to detail but can also look at the ‘bigger picture’ and sense check from a high level.
Preparation and submission of quarterly UK VAT returns for the MUFC VAT Group.
Ensuring MUFC is compliant under the Making Tax Digital Legislation.
Preparation/management of ad hoc VAT claims/opportunities and their submissions to HMRC.
Preparation and submission of other additional recurring VAT filings (e.g. EU VAT refund claims/Mini One Stop Shop)
UK Tax Compliance
Assist with the management of the UK compliance process.
Production of UK tax computations which are prepared in-house.
Assist with the preparation of capital allowance analysis.
Assist with preparation of monthly/quarterly IFRS interim group tax disclosures which include the complications of dual tax jurisdictions (US and UK).
Preparation of year end group and single entity statutory account disclosures.
Regular review of group forecasts, for accounting, tax planning and instalment payment purposes.
Assistance with calculating transfer pricing entries, including cost plus service recharges and royalties/profit share group wide (UK and US).
US Tax Compliance
Assist with the provision of all financial information required for filing of Federal income tax returns (which will be prepared by our US tax advisors).
Liaise with US tax advisors and deal with any on-going federal income tax queries during preparation phase.
Assist in preparation of other tax filings where necessary.
Assistance with identifying any overseas tax risks associated with overseas commercial contracts, and providing information to third party advisors to prepare overseas tax returns where necessary.
Assistance with obtaining country of residency certificates from the UK tax authorities and reviewing withholding taxes deducted by third party commercial partners.
Assistance with monitoring and testing controls for Senior Accounting Officer purposes.
Work with existing team to improve/ensure appropriate tax related control/review procedures in place, in line with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
Involvement with filing overseas tour tax returns.
